Meet Tahra: A nanny in Brighton, VIC

I am a 20 year old female who relocated to Melbourne in 2023 from a coastal town in New South Wales to pursue my studies. Currently, I rent my own accommodation and work in luxury retail, balancing my professional commitments with my passion for childcare.

My experience in nannying began at the age of 16, where I started by caring for family friends. Since moving to Melbourne, I have been fortunate to work with a family for a year on a permanent basis, and I continue to provide casual support for date nights and afternoon relief for multiple families in their circle. I also worked for another family at the same time for one day of afternoon relief and sports weekly which has progressed my experience largely.

I currently nanny for a family three days a week (soon dropping to 1 day) allowing me to engage fully with the children while managing my studies and work schedule effectively. I find immense joy in the time spent with children, as it provides a refreshing counterbalance to the demands of adult life.

Building meaningful relationships with the children I care for is incredibly rewarding, and I take pride in establishing trust and fostering their growth. I am well-acquainted with after-school routines and maintaining a tidy home, as I believe a clean and organised environment contributes to a positive atmosphere for children.

In addition to my large childcare experience, I am meticulous about cleanliness and find therapeutic value in household tasks aswell as cooking and prep for school. I prefer early afternoon starts into the evening as that has been majority of my work and has worked well for me.
